That's a wrap for 2025...

Buttons the Stockwood Elf!

December was a joyful and lively month at Stockwood Community Hub, and we were delighted to welcome a very special visitor to the area… Buttons the Stockwood Elf!

In the run-up to Christmas, Buttons could be spotted all around Stockwood, popping into community groups, activities, and familiar local spaces.

From sessions for babies and young children, to activities for adults and older residents, Buttons brought festive mischief, laughter, and curiosity wherever he went, reminding us just how much is happening across the neighbourhood for people of all ages.

The team at Stockwood Community Hub would love to hear from you. Use our contact page to share what you’d like to see more of in 2026, what isn’t working so well, or to let us know about any new or updated activities.

Christmas in the Square

One of the highlights of December was Christmas in the Square, a brilliant opportunity for neighbours, families, and friends to come together and celebrate. With mulled wine, singing, and a real sense of togetherness, the event captured everything we love about Stockwood.

During the evening, community members were invited to write anonymous wishes for Stockwood in 2026 and hang them on the Christmas tree.

The messages were a great reminder that the Stockwood community is built on connection and a shared sense of belonging.

They give us even more motivation to make sure 2026 includes opportunities for everyone to feel part of something special locally.

Some of the 2026 wishes included:

  • “That all ages can work together for the greater good of Stockwood.”

  • “Where loneliness is a thing of the past.”

  • “A good, friendly neighbourhood.”

  • “Harmony between neighbours.”

  • “To build on the amazing work already happening and grow a thriving community to be proud of.”

  • “A thriving children’s centre with lots on for parents and the chance to use the forest space.”

These wishes beautifully reflect the values at the heart of our community.

Looking ahead to 2026

As we step into 2026, we’re excited about what’s ahead. There’s so much more planned across Stockwood, with activities, groups, events and volunteering opportunities which continue to bring people together, reduce loneliness, and create welcoming spaces for everyone.

Thank you to everyone who took part, shared a smile, or helped make December such a special month. We can’t wait to see what we’ll build together for 2026.
